Dojo Rules Student Guide.

Presented here are a few guidelines for the student to follow while training Karate-Do in the traditional manner.

Be physically & mentally really

-  don't be late

- attend with full clean uniform

- protective gear

- and water for training every class.

1  Please take off your shoes before you enter the Dojo.

(1)  You can wear trainers if the floor of the venue / dojo is not in good condition.

(2)  If you have a problem with your feet.

In those cases you’re advised to wear trainers for safety. If you don’t?  Is at your own risk.

(3)  If you're wearing trainers please make sure you check and clean the bottom of the trainers before entering the dojo.

(4)  Running trainers allowed only. Any colour and non-slippery and in good condition. The laces must be tied properly.

2  Upon entering and before leaving Dojo the students must  "bow"  toward the front of the dojo and  "say uss".

(1)  This shows respect to the place we train. Also lets the  "sensei"  know that you arrived or you're leaving the dojo.

3  Should your uniform come undone while in the class etiquette requires that you turn away from the front of the Dojo, and fix your GI quickly. Your uniform should be clean and tears repaired.

(1)  Remember, attending the class with a dirty uniform or not ironed, you may not be allowed to train at all.

4  Please remember, class begins and ends on time. Should you be late, observe etiquette by kneeling quietly at the door and wait to be invited into class.

(1) Being late you will miss the warm up. Feel disoriented for much of the class. Affect your training in other ways. Or may not be allowed to train at all.

(2)  If the class continues after the official time- and you don’t want to stay- please raise your hand to get the  "sensei’s"  attention to let you go.

5  If you do not feel well in class, raise your hand to get the instructor's attention.

(1)  Let the sensei know if you didn't feel well in the past days. Or if you'd gained an injury.

(2)  If you need rest  "do it"  miss the class, there will be other classes. Otherwise you could put yourself & others in more danger.

6  When you are sitting in the Dojo, sit on your knees or sit cross-legged with your back straight.

7  Finger and toe nails must be kept short to prevent injury to oneself or partner.

8  If you are early for training- once you're in the dojo talking or messing about stops. Instead- warm up, practice quietly or sit down.

(1)  You will receive the same in return as well as the added benefit of the higher belt's knowledge and experience.

19  At the dojo the student must gently "bow" and "say uss", when asking questions, upon command, when they see the Sensei for the first time, and when communicating with other fellow students.

(1)  It is also courtesy to gently  "bow"  and  "say uss"  if you see the sensei outside the dojo.

20  Under no circumstances will any form of Karate be taught by any member to any non-member.

21  There will be no sparring without express permeation of the sensei.

(1)  Eating during classes is forbidden. No alcohol or any other thing that's not appropriate, to be taken before classes.

25  Always try to use the bathroom before the class starts.

(1)  For safety, children are not allowed to go to the bathroom alone during class.  Unless their parents are present. Adults can but must let sensei know.

26  All protective equipment is the responsibility of the student to bring to each class.

(1)  If you forget to bring what is needed it will affect your training, and other students to some extent.

27  Let the sensei know if you must leave early, at the start of the class.

28  Never leave the Dojo without permission.

29  Training at least 2 classes a week is recommended.

30  Be prepared mentally and physically for training every class.

(1)  Once in the dojo nothing else matters but training. The student should be free of thought and doubts. That’s the spirit of karate.

31  If you are off training for a month or more, it is customary to wear a white belt after you return to practice to indicate that you have been away and may not be in top condition.

By attending our classes therefore you agree to comply by our dojo rules. The Sensei reserve the right to enforce with or without warning at any time if the karate-ka do not comply with any of the dojo rules, for educational purposes.
-

In case you have a problem with anything regarding karate you must let the Sensei know immediately. Do not stay in silence or thing that you will not be listened to.
